As the clock strikes midnight this December 31st,

it will be 2025, and we will be 

  a quarter of the way DONE with the 21st century.

Yet in the State of Michigan, we are still required

to teach to skill and content standards 

that were developed more than 20 years ago 

based upon 

what we THOUGHT students would need to know 

to be successful in their lives and careers 

in the 21st century.

 

Now that we are almost 25 years into the 21st century, 

we have a much clearer understanding of 

what today’s students ACTUALLY need to know and be able to do

to be successful in their 21st century lives and careers.
